WEEKLY DEVOTIONALS – 2011
The Bible – Absolute Truth – Week 21
THE BIBLE AND ME: What impact does personal testimony play in believing? Have you ever heard a personal testimony of salvation and been moved deeply by it? I have!! Consider Martin Luther who, like the Apostle Paul, was diligent to be “religious”, but had no peace. Then the Word of God spoke, and salvation came! His verse is found in Habakkuk 2:4: The righteous will live by his faith.
What about prayer - true Godly prayer? Augustine, centuries ago, had a godly mother who prayed! The wayward and wicked Augustine began to examine his life, picked up his Bible and one day as he read Romans 13:13-14, God grabbed his wicked heart and changed him!
Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.
What about the witness of the Gideon International Bible group? They have countless stories of changed lives, because of Scripture speaking to the heart of people. Have you heard any of their testimonies? What about you? What testimony can you offer of God’s powerful Word and work moving you to confess Jesus as Lord?
THOUGHTS TO PONDER THIS WEEK
- Do you truly know Jesus?
- What would the world say about you?
- Who can you share your testimony of saving faith with today?
