WEEKLY DEVOTIONALS – 2011
The Bible – Absolute Truth – Week 24 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
God's Miracle Book (written by Richard De Haan) The Bible is referred to in many different ways. We speak of it as God’s Word, the Good Book, the Holy Scripture, and the Sword of the Spirit. Some call it simply THE Book, for nothing else seems necessary. It stands alone, towering above all other writings. Of the many titles given to the Bible, however, the one that is most appropriate is God's Miracle Book.
- It is miraculous in its origin - divine inspiration.
- It is miraculous in its durability - outlasting the opposition of its critics and surviving the attempts of its enemies to exterminate it.
- It is miraculous in its results - transforming the lives of those who read and believe it.
- It is miraculous in its harmony - agreeing in all its parts, although written over 1,600 years by about 40 different authors.
- It is miraculous in its message - telling of many occasions when God supernaturally intervened in the affairs of men to accomplish His redemptive purposes.
- It is miraculous in its preservation - maintaining its accuracy and reliability down through the centuries.
Yes, the Bible is God’s Miracle Book!
THOUGHTS TO PONDER THIS WEEK
- Of all the books you have ever read, how does the Bible compare?
- Which book, chapter, verse in the Bible is your favorite?
- If you were not able to have your Bible, would you know enough of it to stabilize you in your everyday life?
