The Sermon on the Mount – A Sermon Like No Other Week Three – Righteousness and Happiness Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. (Matthew 5:4)
Jesus taught repentance as His premiere focus as found in Matthew 4:17. Now, on the mountain side He moves into a clearer understanding of what needs to take place for true righteousness and happiness to ignite a faithful life in Christ. Last week Jesus’ words were clear. One must recognize that they are bankrupt spiritually and separated from God and in need of a Redeemer. This week we see Jesus blessing those who genuinely mourn over sin and repent without regret (2 Corinthians 7:10). This key to salvation in Christ is the heart of true victory. Jesus then shares a most comforting truth. This comfort is the comfort of being forgiven by God and receiving true salvation. Truth Two: The truly repentant in Christ receive God amazing comfort – forgiveness of sin and salvation through Jesus. Security in Christ. Share this truth today!
Blessings to all,
