The Sermon on the Mount – A Sermon Like No Other Week Eight – Righteousness and Happiness Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. (Matthew 5:9)
Common grace is lavished on the whole world – the saved and the unsaved. In this verse Jesus teaches the multitude an important truth. Peacemakers are rare. Yet every true Christian is given opportunity to pursue it. Good will extended to people, especially the ones who least deserved it ... just as common grace is given. This is true Christian living. Jesus teaches (see Matthew 5:44-45) the truth that loving even those who are trouble makers, liars, vengeful, and mean, demonstrates, in action, the true heart of a believer. If I want to be a peacemaker it would mean “not getting even” – rather being forgiving, loving and kind. (See Titus 3:1-2) Truth Seven: God’s form of peacemaker is someone who models love even when it hurts. This is the way of true blessing... (See Hebrews 12:14).
Blessings to all,
