The Sermon on the Mount – A Sermon Like No Other Week Nine – Righteousness and Happiness Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5:10)
As Jesus taught, His thoughts now turn to the subject of persecution. Jesus saw into their hearts and knew the ones who would embrace the truth of His salvation. With His salvation and the righteousness that is given to the believers, He also knew that the Good News would be shared. His Good News would change the world forever. It would also cause persecution. Jesus knows persecution well! He gives the believer hope of heaven. We are told in 1 Peter 4:14, If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. Truth Eight: Knowing and living for Christ can bring persecution. Sharing in Christ’s suffering brings the Spirit of glory and God’s rest!
Blessings to all,
