The Sermon on the Mount – A Sermon Like No Other Week 11 – Righteousness and Happiness You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men. (Matthew 5:13)
The 9 Blessings of this Sermon give a foundation for salvation and Christian living. Jesus is clear about the message. He knows His life will be given to secure our salvation. Salt was a preservative and very valuable in Jesus' day. Saltiness is descriptive of a true Christian life. Christians are to be salty. Jesus' message of being salty inferred a Christian's values by obeying the Word of God (Colossians 3:16) and the power of the Holy Spirit producing godly character. The Christian's lifestyle always preserves society. The one who is tasteless (disobedient and willful) is not reflecting Jesus, and immoral living results! Truth 10: A Christian is to be salty, like Christ. When we follow His teaching in truth and Character, His Church is being preserved. Do you live by the salty Word of God?
Blessings to all,
