The Sermon on the Mount – A Sermon Like No Other Week 12 – Righteousness and Discipleship You are the light of the world…Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 5:14a,16)
Jesus' teaching is powerful. First He gives saltiness as an example of the Christian life ... now He gives Light. John 1 talks about the true Light, Jesus. Here Jesus tells the "listening ones" ... you can also be light. Jesus had this planned all along. His light would reflect into the heart of every true believer and the amazing light would illumine the world. As the believer lives in Christ's light, the reflection is eye catching and compelling. The work we have to do through Christ is the very preservative of Church life in the world. All this good work is worship when done God's way. Glory is the result of this light living, and the Father is pleased. Truth 11: Christians are to be light reflectors. This can only happen as daily the Word of God reflects into the heart of the believer and is lived out.
Blessings to all,
