The Sermon on the Mount – A Sermon Like No Other Week 30 – Righteousness and Salvation Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it. Matthew 7:13, 14
The next few weeks we will see that Jesus is now specifically pointing out True Salvation. We will be seeing two specific destinations in these lessons. This week we see two gates, one wide and one narrow. Both presume to lead to heaven. Only one is the True gate. Jesus specifically states: Enter by the narrow gate. Jesus knew it would be difficult to go the narrow way. Why? Because it requires a walk of faith and obedience in Jesus Christ alone! This would be considered narrow minded, to rigid and not all inclusive. The wide gate would have broad appeal, works righteousness and embracing the masses. He was sending a warning and would go further to demonstrate this truth as we will see next week. Truth 29: True Salvation is the Narrow Gate of faith and obedience in Jesus Christ alone.
Blessings to all,
