 The Sermon on the Mount – A Sermon Like No Other Week 35 And Jesus came down with them and stood on a level place; ... and all the people were trying to touch Him, for power was coming from Him and healing them all. Luke 6:17a,19 This account is often titled The Sermon on the Plateau. It’s similarities to the Matthew account is remarkable. We see Jesus preaching the same sermon and it would appear that this account very well could be the same sermon as the Matthew account but with some abbreviation. We know that this sermon came early in Jesus’ ministry and that the account in Luke begins with the Beatitudes and concludes with the parable of the rock. Jesus was already well known. His teaching and healing drew people to Him. He was administering His grace, mercy and truth among the hungry and hurting crowd. It is a drawing for us as well. Jesus has the touch and the power to heal every willing soul!
