The Sermon on the Mount – A Sermon Like No Other Week 39 Blessed are you when men hate you, and ostracize you, and insult you, and scorn your name as evil, for the sake of the Son of Man. Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for their fathers used to treat the false prophets in the same way. Luke 6:22, 26
In our day the truths of this passage become alive and real. Many are dying for their faith in Jesus Christ. Even in our own communities this passage rings true. We are blessed, dear ones, when insults come. Yes, it hurts, but blessed are the ones who testify to Christ and His power and authority. If Jesus saw it as important to emphasize this suffering, it is to our benefit to stand firm in His authority and keep the faith. We have witnesses doing just that all over the world! The woe is significant as well. If the world sees me as awesome and without Christ conviction, it’s time for a spiritual checkup!! Truth #38: Persecution of the true Christ followers is inevitable. Be strong in the Lord and the strength of His might!
Be glad in that day and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven. For in the same way their father’s used to treat the prophets. Luke 6:23
Blessings to all,
