The Sermon on the Mount – A Sermon Like No Other Week 41 But love your enemies, do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. Luke 6:35-36
This profound blessing comes by way of faith and sacrificial living. Our world is in a state of major hatred and violence against Christ and Christian values. It was not that different in Jesus’ day. Even the religious establishment despised Him and His teachings. Never-the-less Jesus was very clear – love – do good and expect nothing in return. This will thus be counted toward your reward by the Most High! Be merciful to the enemy. This counts in the eternal kingdom. Jesus knew that doing good in Christian circles was expected but doing good toward the world was a far more essential, difficult yes, yet rewarding duty for the true follower. Jesus led the way. And we see that the Father is indeed merciful. May He help us to desire this responsibility and fulfill it in our community, for His glory. Truth #40: Living in love for and showing mercy to everyone are qualities of Christian Kingdom living!
Blessings to all,
