The Sermon on the Mount – A Sermon Like No Other Week 42 Do not judge and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon and you will be pardoned. Give, and it will be given to you ... For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return. Luke 6:37-38
You will also observe this passage in Matthew 7:1-2. It is very important to see that judging others is a key teaching. It all hinges on our own personal living and confession. Self centered, hypocritical unfair judgments are forbidden. Jesus gives two parables in the following verses to bring home the point. (Speech and log in eye examples). Jesus also points out our duty as followers. We are to examine our fruit. He says: For there is no good tree which produces bad fruit, nor, on the other hand, a bad tree which produces good fruit. For each tree is known by its own fruit. (Read entire passage in Luke 6:43-45). The key here is – examine your heart. Be careful who you listen to. Know the Word – follow sound teaching and be careful to not be misled by false messages, remain faithful to Christ! Truth #41: Personal examination and confession is essential to bearing good fruit and recognizing bad fruit!
