The Sermon on the Mount – A Sermon Like No Other Week 43 Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like: he is like a man building a house who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; Luke 6:46-48a
As we studied last week, a tree is known by its fruit (v.44). This week we see another example as taught by Jesus of a true believer. Genuine faith produces obedience. Lip service isn’t sufficient to mark a true believer. Everything we have seen in these lessons point to action! Jesus states clearly that action reveals genuineness in true faith. His example of a builder reveals hard truth. Genuine faith in Christ is a process of building as seen by the 1st builder in this passage. The foundation of his house is 1st and most essential ... knowing Christ in salvation. The truth that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life (John 14:6) ... is the Rock. He is the Firm Foundation indeed! Truth #42: Genuine faith in Christ alone is Rock Solid!
Blessings to all,
