The Sermon on the Mount – A Sermon Like No Other Week 46 Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:27 Therefore, salt is good, but if even salt has become tasteless, with what will it be seasoned? It is useless either for the soil or for the manure pile; it is thrown out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear. Luke 14:34-35
The cost of discipleship is emphasized in verse 27. To read the entire dialogue, go to verses 25-35. It’s clear, Jesus is sharing a profound truth. Discipleship costs everything! Yes everything! It’s not about my wants, it’s about His glory! Denying the things that will perish anyway and surrendering to the one thing that is eternal – salvation in Jesus – is asked for here and all through the Scripture. Why is it that we too often forget the truth!? Jesus led the way to Calvary. Now we walk by faith in His steps. Surrender to stuff in order to receive the fruit of righteousness. Jesus said to live salty lives. Lives that taste His goodness – then go forth sprinkling His truths out and upon those we come into contact with! He who has ears to hear, let him hear! Truth #45: A Christian’s life is to savory for Christ alone!
Blessings to all,
