The Sermon on the Mount – A Sermon Like No Other Week 48 For a Child will be born to us, a Son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and to uphold it with justice and righteousness from then on and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this. Isaiah 9:6-7
As we complete this year’s overview of the Sermon on the Mount it is good to reflect on these powerful truths as taught by Jesus our Immanuel, God with us. (See Truths 1-47) We often miss a very significant truth in Isaiah 9:6-7. Jesus would indeed come and He did indeed fulfill the promise of the ages, to redeem His people from sin. Jesus taught the people with authority. He began on that Mount to lay the foundation of justice, truth, mercy and peace. As Isaiah states prophetically, Jesus would not be on the scene for just a one time event...No...it was so much more than that! Redemption for His own was foundational! Hallelujah! But more would follow as we will see next week!
Blessings to all,
