A Faithful Witness - Week Eight Then the LORD said to Moses, “See, I make you as God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron shall be your prophet. You shall speak all that I command you, and your brother Aaron shall speak to Pharaoh that he let the sons of Israel go out of his land”...so Moses and Aaron did it; as the LORD commanded them, thus they did. Exodus 7:1,2,6
A Faithful Witness for God is someone who, though flawed by the fall, still trusts in God to lead, give voice and demonstrate His divine power and authority in action. Moses was just such a person. Just read Exodus chapters 3-6 where God spoke to Moses. Moses was reluctant for sure, yet read on and you see his faithful witness lived out in Exodus 7 and beyond. We see even more in Hebrews 11:24-29. God raised up a man to be a faithful witness before Pharaoh and the Hebrew nation. His faith yielded a right choice to follow God rather than the riches of Egypt and fame. His faith looked beyond his present trials into a future that is eternal and secure. (v.26) Yes, Moses was flawed, yet a mighty God was his Leader. Can we say the same?
Yes, flaws I have, yet I worship and serve an awesome God who saves to the uttermost.
What about you? Moses was used in a mighty way to establish the Hebrew nation. We look back to his Faithful Witness and trust that faithful God will also direct our willing hearts in whatever He is calling us to do today. May our legacy be like theirs: As the LORD commanded them, thus they did!
