Faithful Witnesses are those who show courage. Rahab was a dweller in Jericho. Her people heard about the one true God and their hearts literally melted and no courage was found in any man. Fear took over. Rahab recognized God and did a courageous act. She hid the 2 spies and she protected them. Her strength and courage to ask these men to spare her life and that of her whole family ... yielded her a place as a Faithful Witness in the Book of Hebrews. (Hebrews 11:31) The story can be read in Joshua 2:1-21 and Joshua 6:23-25.

Courage under extreme circumstances can only be given by God. The God of heaven and earth is Faithful to His Faithful Witnesses. Rahab’s boldness to help Israel yielded her a place in Israel. And she has lived in the midst of Israel to this day, for she hid the messengers whom Joshua set to spy out Jericho. (Joshua 6:25c) I pray God give each of us this courage as we face challenges to our faith each day!
