A Faithful Witness - Week Eleven But Gideon said to them, I will not rule over you, nor shall my son rule over you; the LORD shall rule over you. Judges 8:33
The story of Gideon’s military leadership is unique and encouraging. Gideon’s family was least in the clans of Israel. Behold, my family is least in Manasseh, and I am the youngest in my father’s house. (Judges 6:15) Gideon’s Faithful Witness comes with humility. His story begins with the LORD appearing to him with words of encouragement. He calls Gideon “O valiant warrior.” (Judges 6:12) His faithful witness comes by way of follow through. The Spirit of the LORD did come upon Gideon because he was a willing warrior. He trusted God to bring the victory over Midian. He recognized God’s hand upon his life and as a Faithful Witness he pointed the people to God as their ruler – not himself. A Faithful Witness is always surrendered to our Faithful God. May we each remember that it is God in Christ who leads and protects us.
