A Faithful Witness - Week Twelve Do not urge me to leave you or turn back from following you; for where you go, I will go, where you lodge, I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God ... thus may the LORD do to me and worse, if anything but death parts you and me. Ruth 1:16,17
The story of Ruth stirs the heart toward God. Making the right choices in life, choices Gods way, yield blessings and untold rewards. Ruth, a Moabite, married into this Jewish family. Her lineage would yield a place in Christian history that is blessed. Her Faithful Witness began in whole when she separated herself from the world of her earthly lineage and followed hard after the God of her husband’s family.
A Faithful Witness for God is one who is willing to let go of the world’s goods, securities and causes, and follow hard after the God of Scripture. Ruth desired and followed hard after God unbeknown to her ... that she would become the grandmother to a forerunner of Jesus’ earthly family line. Ruth lived her new faith and God gave her courage to follow her mother-in-law back to Bethlehem. In her obedience, God blessed her Faithful Witness. How willing are we to follow hard after God?
Blessings to all,
