A Faithful Witness - Week Thirteen Then Hannah prayed and said, My heart exalts in the LORD; my horn is exalted in the LORD, my mouth speaks boldly against my enemies, because I rejoice in Your salvation. There is no one holy like the LORD, indeed there is not one besides You, nor is there any rock like our God. 1 Samuel 2:1,2
Hanna was a barren woman. Her story is told in 1 Samuel 1 and 2. She cried out to the LORD regarding her barrenness and in God’s time He answered her prayer request. Hannah’s son, Samuel was given to the service of the LORD and each year his mother, Hannah, came to the temple to see him. Her faithful witness to give her first born son to the service of the LORD would usher in the prophet Samuel’s dramatic historical narrative of the Davidic Covenant. The Sovereignty of God is seen in Hannah’s prayer: The LORD will judge the ends of the earth; and He will give strength to His king, and will exalt the horn of His anointed. (v.10) This reference is directly linked to God’s plan for a future Messiah. May we, like Hannah, also seek the Lord for our needs daily and trust Him to direct our lives in worship and service to Him.
Blessings to all,
