A Faithful Witness - Week Seventeen Then David said to Abigail, blessed be the LORD God of Israel, who sent you this day to meet me, and blessed be your discernment and blessed be you, who have kept me this day from bloodshed and from avenging myself by my own hand. 1 Samuel 25:32,33
The story of Abigail is profound. Her husband Nabel, was a fool. His behavior proved so in 1 Samuel 25:1-38. Abigail recognized the danger her husband put the family in, and she acted on behalf of Godly discretion to intervene before tragedy came upon her family. As a faithful witness she seized the moment, by God’s leading, and took the needed supplies to David and his men. Going against her foolish husband’s orders, Abigail helped David to be saved from sin and her family from harm. As Peter and the apostles answered before the Council in Acts 5:29, We must obey God rather than men. So it is true of our faithful witness! This is a reminder to all of us that God is to be honored above all.
Blessings to all,
