A Faithful Witness - Week Nineteen This Ezra went up from Babylon, and he was a scribe skilled in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given; and the king granted him all he requested because the hand of the LORD his God was upon him ... For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the LORD and to practice it, and to teach His statutes and ordinances in Israel. Ezra 7:6,10
Examination of Scripture reveals many reminders of the extreme length God ordained to bestow upon us the awesome manuscript, the Holy Bible. Reading the historical narrative of Ezra, a scribe who was skilled in the Law of Moses, gives to me a confidence in the amazing love of God toward mankind. Ezra’s story is amazing. His faithful witness to the truth and power of God’s Word is comforting and reassuring. His heart to know God and then to read aloud God’s Word gives power to the Scripture as we will see next week. Ezra “set his heart” to “study” God’s Word! How set are we to read, study and share God’s Word? A Faithful Witness is diligent in embracing the Holy Bible. Perhaps we need to ask God for an Ezra mind set?
Blessings to all,
