A Faithful Witness - Week Twenty-Nine In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah; and he had a wife from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. They were both righteous in the sight of God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and requirements of the Lord. Luke 1:5,6
In our world there is much uncertainty. In the days of Zacharias and Elizabeth the world was much the same. It had been 400 years since the last prophet spoke (Malachi). In their day, like ours, God was (and is) looking for righteousness and blameless walking before Him. God was looking for men and women who revered and hallowed His Holy Name. It is a refreshing witness for us to see that God is continually using His faithful ones to continue His plan for the culmination of the ages. Their story introduces us to the birth of our Savior through their journey of faith. As we remember this faithful and obedient couple (They were both righteous in the sight of God), may we also be faithful witnesses of the righteousness of God and the requirements He has given (see Romans 8:1-11) for us through Jesus Christ. Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1)
