A Faithful Witness - Week Thirty-One And there was a prophetess, Anna ... she was advanced in years ... She never left the temple, serving night and day with fasting and prayer. At that very moment she came up and began giving thanks to God ... - Luke 2:36a, 37a, 38a
Timing is everything. As we saw last week, Simeon was in the temple at the time Mary and Joseph brought Jesus in to be dedicated. His prophesy was a powerful opening confirmation to the life of Christ on the earth. Anna lived on the temple grounds ... interesting in itself. She most likely heard this event because she confirms what Simeon prophesied. She had also been looking to the future redemption. Both of these devout believers were indeed faithful witnesses. After Anna’s encounter with the Messiah she goes to all those who were “like her” and she is a faithful witness to this awesome event. Her testimony is recorded for us to enjoy. She was THANKFUL because the time of His appearing had arrived. May we be thankful because He has come and is coming again. He is looking for faithful witnesses like Anna and Simeon who watch and pray. Are we waiting with expectation?
Blessings to all,
