A Faithful Witness - Week Thirty-Five Therefore, Brethren, select from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and of wisdom; ... and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit.. Acts 6:3,5b
The account of Stephen (Acts 6:5-7:60) is perhaps one of the most meaningful in Scripture. His amazing sermon and subsequent martyrdom is historical, moving, and profound. As a faithful witness we see a man bold in faith, filled with the Spirit and godly wisdom, speaking historical truth to a Jewish crowd and God moving in their midst to bring conviction and conversion. Stephen was an evangelist first and foremost. His calling was to proclaim God’s truth. He was not afraid of the outcome. I’ve read of similar faithful witnesses in our day as well. God is looking for people who are not afraid to share the Gospel even in the midst of persecution of every kind! Will we be found faithful? Stephen was! Read his story, it is amazing! May we go forth for Christ’s Name Sake and share the Gospel to everyone!
Blessings to all,
