A Faithful Witness - Week Thirty-Nine

Now there was a man at Caesarea named Cornelius ... a devout man and one who feared God with his household, and gave many alms to Jewish people and prayed to God continually ... (Acts 10:1-2) Cornelius said (to Peter) ... Four days ago ... I was praying in my house during the 9th hour; and behold, a man stood before me in shining garments, and he said, Cornelius, your prayers have been heard and your alms have been remembered before God.
John 12:1-3

The conversion of Cornelius is noteworthy. As a Gentile, he was not necessarily seen as a likely candidate for conversion. The Mystery that for long ages had been kept secret would, this amazing day, be revealed! Peter, a Jew, would go to a Gentile home and preach a life saving message. While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the message. (Acts 10:44) Praise be to God ... the message of salvation is for the Whole World! Cornelius was seeking and searching for the Truth and God heard his effectual prayer ... and history was revealed for all to witness! Salvation comes to those who are sincere and seeking. God is so good! As a faithful witness Cornelius and his family were the first Gentile Christian believers. The Old Testament prophecy of Isaiah 49:6 states: It is too small a thing that you should be my Servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the preserved ones of Israel; I will also make You a light of the nations so that My salvation may reach to the ends of the earth. Praise God! Let’s tell the world that Jesus is Lord!

Blessings to all,
