A Faithful Witness - Week Forty-Six For I am mindful of the sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am sure that it is in you as well. 2 Timothy 1:5
Family dynamic is witnessed in the passage above. For Timothy, his faith and heritage becomes clear. His grandmother Lois was a true believer. Her faith was passed forward to Timothy’s mother, Eunice. We don’t know the details. We see the results, fruit bearing family members. Now Paul addresses his beloved son (v.2) in the faith, Timothy. His faithful witness was evident in the Christian community. Timothy was a preacher. His church was in need of infusion of power and discipline. Paul would admonish young Timothy to be diligent to present yourself approved by God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the Word of Truth. (2 Timothy 2:15) Whether young, old or in between we are to be faithful witnesses, presenting the Word of Truth accurately – not watered down or compromised! Timothy was a young pastor, and Paul was encouraging him to not be afraid to speak the truth in love. This gave Timothy courage ... May we also have this courage ... to speak the Truth of the Gospel in love ...
