A Faithful Witness - Week Forty-Eight Jude, a bond-servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James ... Jude 1:1a Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints. Jude 1:3-4
Jude is introduced in his Epistle. His message to the believers is a clarion call for guarding the Gospel message. As a faithful witness Jude writes to the “saints” (believers in Jesus Christ) to contend earnestly for the faith. His testimony of truth and grace is a must-read and a profound call to everyone who desires the purity and holiness of the Gospel message. But you, beloved, ought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ ... a warning for us spoken through this Epistle. The Gospel message is clear. Even in our day when so called preachers, teachers and professors tell us that the new enlightenment clears another way – the True follower of Christ, if equipped with the true knowledge of God, will recognize these counterfeits and flee their perverted grace claims. May we be faithful witnesses to the True Gospel message. (Jude 24-25)
