Godly Wisdom - 2016
Week Twenty-Three

Then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse; and a branch from his roots will bear fruit. The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding; the spirit of counsel and strength, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD. - Isaiah 11:1,2

The prophetic Book of Isaiah is rich in historical and scriptural truth. From this significant verse we see the unfolding of the mystery that was revealed in the pages of the Gospel narrative. For the Christian this is Good News. It is Biblical truth and it is the hope that was being lived out in the days of Isaiah.
Specifically we see Isaiah offers a clue to the future Messiah. The Promised One would come through the line of Jesse's family..David to be exact. The Fruit bearer (Jesus) spoken of will embody the God-head as described in verse 2 above. The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him. (Luke 4:18) Jesus, the Messiah, would also be Ruler (Matthew 2:6) and the Fear of the Lord would be His signature.
I am reminded yet again that True Wisdom can only come through Christ! Isaiah prophesied this truth! Let's be bold professors for this Truth! Help us Lord to not cower when we know Your truth. Help us to share it abroad! Amen.
