Week Thirty-Three

For this reason also, since the day we heard of it; we have not ceased to pray for you to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects...
Colossians 1:9-10b

This passage of Scripture is a beautiful example of the heart of Paul in prayer for his beloved brethren in the faith. From Colossians 1:1-8 we see Paul sharing in the joy of these faithful believers. The witness given by Epaphras was exciting and so very encouraging to Paul. Paul's emphasis is on the knowledge that these believers were diligent in the study of divine Scripture (word of truth v.5). Spiritual wisdom is eternal, and through understanding comes the practical application of these truths in our daily lives. Lord, help us to study Your word and walk obediently in Your way - for Your glory. Amen.
