Godly Wisdom - 2016
Week Thirty-Six

Who is wise and understanding among you? By his conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. - James 3:13

In the Greek culture the word "wise" was commonly used for speculative knowledge and philosophy. The Hebrews of that day gave a richer meaning by applying a practical living component to the use. The Book of James is very useful in the application of the truths of Holy Scripture. Here we see the implementation of Godly Wisdom in the life of a true follower of Jesus Christ. The emphasis is on "meekness" of wisdom. Sounds a lot like Jesus and His teaching in Matthew 5:5. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Again in James 1:21 it states: Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word which is able to save your soul. Lord, help us to seek, treasure and apply Your wisdom in our daily lives. Amen.
