Week Thirty-Nine

After these things the Word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: "Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great" ... and He brought him outside and said, "Look toward heaven, and number the stars if you are able to number them" then he said to him, "So shall your offspring be," and he blessed the LORD, and He counted it to him as righteousness.
Genesis 15:1,5,6

The hope of this world is grounded on this Promise of God from Abram. God's Covenant relationship is paramount to your future and mine. What God promised Abram was and is being fulfilled in every true believer in Jesus Christ. Listen to these words by the Apostle Paul in Romans 4:20-22: No distrust made him waver (Abram) concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what He had promised. That is why his faith was counted to him as righteousness. The law does not save nor does works ... but the righteousness of God through faith ... sure does! Help us to grow in this righteousness of faith, O Lord. Amen.
