Godly Wisdom - 2016 Week Forty-Eight
In the days of Herod king of Judea, there was a priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah; and he had a wife from the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. They were both righteous in the sight of God, walking blameless in all the commandments and requirements of the Lord. - Luke 1:5-6
The time, place and genealogy of Messiah and His forerunner has been prophesied in the Old Testament. The last Old Testament book of Malachi would reference this event (Malachi 4:5). This passage goes on to tell the events of this couple, against all odds, conceiving and bearing a son - John the Baptist. This man would fulfill the prophecy of "forerunner" and would proclaim Messiah at the time of Jesus' earthly ministry (Luke 3).
As we prepare for Christmas, be reminded of how God describes these two people. They were both righteous in the sight of God. Wisdom from God yields His righteousness. May our witness this Holy Season reflect purity of heart and mind to the world we are living in ... to the Glory of God alone! Amen
Blessings to all,
