Christian Character & Conduct - 2017 Weekly Devotional - Week 4
The word character means "proof" in the Greek language. It is a word used to test metal, to determine its purity. To us, this word holds sound teaching. Listen to these words by the Apostle Paul:
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace ... not only that, but we rejoice in our suffering, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. (Romans 5:1,2a,3-5) Character is produced through the prayerful conduct of a life centered on Jesus Christ, working through the Holy Spirit to empower the heart, to mold Christlikeness in the issues life brings. All this is to the glory of God even in the process of suffering. We ask Lord for Your strength to shine forth in our weakness, and we rejoice in Your victory over our lives today. Amen.
From my heart to yours,
Sandra J. Mikler Davis for the team at Women in Discipleship P.O. Box 694 - Goldenrod, FL 32733 sandydaviswid@earthlink.net / womenindiscipleship.org
