Christian Character & Conduct - 2017 Weekly Devotional - Week 6
Prayer is powerful! Prayer works to change the heart. For a person to be changed from doing evil unholy deeds to living a purified life full of righteousness is a work of persistent and God working power. This cannot be done by any will of man. It can only be done in the power and mercy of God! Prayer is communion - conversation personal and humble with God our Savior and Lord.
As E. M. Bounds so aptly put it: The church is God's manufactory on earth, and its primary duty is to create and foster righteousness of character. This is its first business. Primarily, its work is not to acquire members, nor amass numbers, nor aim at money-getting, nor engage in deeds of charity and works of mercy, but to produce righteousness of character and purity of the outward life. (Quote from E.M. Bounds on Prayer, p. 48) Listen to these most precious and comforting words: Likewise the Spirit helps in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And He who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. Romans 8:27 Let's pray earnestly every day!
From my heart to yours,
