Christian Character & Conduct - 2017 Weekly Devotional - Week 15
Thus says the LORD, heaven is my throne and the earth is My footstool. Where then is a house you can build for Me? And where is a place that I may rest? For My hand made all these things, thus all these things came into being, declares the LORD. But to this one I will look, to him who is humble and contrite in spirit, and who trembles at My word. Isaiah 66:1-2
What a huge reminder for us! Stephen, in his sermon to the Sanhedrin, (Acts 7:44-50) reminded the leaders that this temple or anything tangible is but a product of God's own hands. God is not in need of any building. Rather, dear brothers and sisters, what He is looking for is a "heart" to dwell in ... one that is tender and broken for Him. God looks only for that heart that is hungry for His Word ... not things, actions or external religion. A humble and contrite heart for Him - He seeks! Help me Lord to have that kind of heart where You are welcome and glorified. Show me what has to be eliminated today, and prepare my heart for Your service today and always. Amen.
From my heart to yours,
