Christian Character & Conduct - 2017 Weekly Devotional - Week 20
Christians are to rejoice in the Lord always. We see from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 these words: Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. We see in Psalm 33:1 these words: Sing for joy in the LORD, O you righteous ones; Praise is becoming to the upright.
These words are powerful! They are to be embraced by every Christian in every circumstance. It isn't always easy to have a joyful, rejoicing, thankful spirit. But here we see that it is God's will that we be this way. Why? Because our life is not our own. We were bought with the precious blood of the very Son of God. We are the Redeemed! We have a Hope and a Future - secure in the heavens and prepared especially for us individually!
Do you remember what Habakkuk said at the end of his prophecy - knowing that in the near future distant armies would come and kill, capture and carry away his family, community and nation? Listen to these words: Yet I will exalt in the LORD, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation. The LORD GOD is my strength. - Habakkuk 3:18-19a
HELP ME LORD TO BE A REJOICER IN YOU CONTINUALLY! AMEN.
From my heart to yours,
