Christian Character & Conduct - 2017 Weekly Devotional - Week 36
Lately, I have been reflecting on our "Calling." Much is said in Scripture regarding the Calling of a true believer. A passage I'm reminded of often is found in Ephesians 4:1-3. Paul states: I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
The word "lowliness" is a term begun by Paul while in Rome. To our understanding, this word is associated with the word "humility." We see it also in James 4:6, where we learn that God gives His grace to those who are humble before Him. This Character quality is to encompass all true believers. Help us Lord to first understand You and to honor You with a humble heart, yielded to You continually. Amen.
From my heart to yours,
