Christian Character & Conduct - 2017 Weekly Devotional - Week 39
Have you ever been in a situation where you were called to "contend for the faith?" We are living in a time were contending for the faith is becoming real and called for. Many areas of the world already have seen much persecution and even martyrdom for the true faith of our Gospel in Jesus Christ alone!
From the early church, we see in Jude 3 these words: Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. The first Christian martyrs (Stephen and James) were steadfast to guard the truth of Jesus Christ even to their death. The Scripture (our Bible) is God’s Word to us. It is all truth and we are given the command to “guard it” with our lives. What are you willing to do to guard the Word of God? Beware of compromise and negotiation. Standing firm in Truth comes at a cost, maybe even our reputation or our very lives! Help us Lord to be ready no matter the cost. Amen.
From my heart to yours,
Sandra J. Mikler Davis for the team at Women in Discipleship P.O. Box 694 - Goldenrod, FL 32733 sandydaviswid@earthlink.net / womenindiscipleship.org
