Christian Character & Conduct - 2017 Weekly Devotional - Week 47
I have observed a variety of holidays in the USA that honor individuals. The greeting card companies have special days for just about everyone. Honoring folks is a booming business, and celebrating special days of remembrance can be heartwarming.
Did you know that the Bible actually addresses the “Honor” issue? Listen to these verses: Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Philippians 2:3. Give thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God. Ephesians 5:20-21. And again: Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; The Scripture makes it clear we are to honor others. Sharing genuine appreciation and admiration for fellow believers is honoring to them and showing reverence for God. This is true submission. Help us Lord to honor others above ourselves and reverence You above all. Amen. (See 1 Peter 3:8-9)
From my heart to yours,
