Our sure HOPE is in the saving work of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary. Last week's devotional was very clear about our sureness in heaven and eternal rest in Jesus.
Looking back to Psalm 131 we see someone else who had a steady HOPE in the One true God, King David! Listen to what he wrote – his childlike trust in the Lord for his life and eternity: LORD, my heart is not proud, nor my eyes haughty; nor do I involve myself in great matters or in things too difficult for me. Surely I have composed and quieted my soul; like a weaned child rests against his mother, my soul is like a weaned child within me. (And then He exhorts Israel with these words) O, Israel, HOPE in the LORD from this time forth and forever. Psalm 131: 1-3
O Lord, help us, Your children, to place our sure Hope in You alone, Amen.
