Devotionals 2020 The Root of Righteousness Week Five
The reason I am emphasizing (in these devotionals) the life of Abraham is simple. Abraham was much like us. From the beginning we see a man who heard God’s call and by faith believed. Later in the history of the nation of Israel, many Jews would be recognized by their human ancestry ... Abraham’s human seed. Listen to these words in Galatians 3:6-9: Even so Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness. Therefore, be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham. The Scripture foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, all the nations will be blessed in you. So, then those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer. Examining this passage of Scripture confirms that Abraham was saved by faith. Abraham believed God was going to do something beyond his earthly imaginings. He was looking forward. We are looking forward also. But we also have the Scriptures ... past history telling us His story. The true believer is the one who is rooted to the Gospel. More to come in the weeks ahead!
