Devotionals 2020 The Root of Righteousness Week 20
As Christians who walk by faith, we are to live for Christ, testify of our saving faith in Jesus our Savior and Lord. The book of Ephesians has a reminder for true believers. From Ephesians 4:20 we read: But that is not the way you learned Christ.Paul is referring to verses 18-19. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of their ignorance due to their hardness of heart, they are callous and they practice every kind of impurity. Paul is stating that those old traits are to be put off because they belong to the former manner of wickedness and sin.
From Ephesians 4:23-24 we see how, as Christians we are to Put On the New self: to be renewed in the Spirit of your minds, and to Put On the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
This is the Christians moral responsibility to our fellow man. The pursuit of holiness is the striving of the true believer, by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are to act accordingly, to the glory of God!
