Biblical Doctrine of God's Work of Creation

Back in Week 12, I quoted a brief statement that included the words fiat creationism. This statement contends that God created the universe by fiat (or decree). (paraphrased from Biblical Doctrine p. 213)

The 6^th literal day of creation, God created mankind. Mankind was distinct from all other creatures and was created in the image of God. God created directly by His Word as explicitly stated in Scripture.

Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being. Genesis 2:7

By the Word of the LORD the heavens were made, and by the breath of His mouth all their hosts. Psalm 33:6

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.
