God speaks clearly in His word! King David experienced God's word of blessing and of discipline on a number of occasions. From Psalm 19:12-13 David gets to the point of his confessing heart toward the God he worshiped and served:
v.12. Who can discern his errors? Acquit me of hidden faults. v.13. Also keep back your servant from presumptuous sins; let them not rule over me; then I will be blameless, and I shall be acquitted of great transgression.
The example here of David's confession before Holy God is one of a maturing discipline. We see here that he does not want to miss any sin that would hinder his walk with God. Hidden faults can also refer to unintentional sins - ones we may not yet recognize as sinful. The other is presumptuous sins - sins we know are wrong but we do them anyway. David recognized that sin caused a fracture in his relationship with Holy God and he wanted cleansing and was not afraid to ask for God’s forgiveness.
May we do the same!!
