V. 37. "And there arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up. V. 38. Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?"
This unique plea for help from the disciples to Jesus is rather moving and human in nature. Jesus, being God, is at peace in His being and we see this here. Jesus is fast asleep and the disciples are fearing for their life. Today we can call upon the Lord continually. “The Lord is near." (Philippians 4:5b) The disciples learned that eventually. Have we?
