    WALK OF GRACE
    My Spiritual Service of Worship

    WEEK ONE -- GRACE

    INTRODUCTION

Grace is a word that is used in a variety of ways. It can be a name, it is sometimes referred to as the prayer before a meal, or it can describe someone's manner or appearance. What does it really mean in the life of a believer in Jesus Christ?

In the New Testament, this word "grace" is "charis" (#5485). It can mean joy, favor, acceptance, a kindness granted or desired, a benefit, thanks, gratitude, a favor done without expectation of return, absolute freeness of the lovingkindness of God to men finding its only motive in the bounty and freeheartedness of the giver, unearned and unmerited favor. "Charis" is the opposite of "erga," which means works. (Lexicon, pp.1887-1887)

This concept of "grace" and the one who lavished it on us, will be the focus of our study. We will rejoice, pray, and thank our gracious God for His complete work on our behalf. We'll sing, meditate, and worship in loving communion with the Lord God Almighty, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, as we offer Him our "spiritual service of worship." (Rom. 12:1)

    PRAYER:
Holy Father, as I open your Word, fill me with reverence and awe for you. I pray this in confidence, by the power of your Holy Spirit because of King Jesus, my Savior. Amen.

    DAY ONE

    SING: Immortal, Invisible (Hymnal #25)

    1. Look up Romans 12:1, and write it out here.

    2. Who is this verse addressed to, and why was it important to them?

    3. Who are the "brethren"? (Rom. 8:29; Heb. 2:11)

    4. What do you think "by the mercies of God" means?

    5. According to this verse, what is expected of the "brethren" before God?

    APPLICATION:
Before continuing this study, there is an important question to ask yourself. Are you counted among the "brethren"? Is Jesus your Lord and Savior? Have you, by the mercy of God, received eternal life in Jesus Christ?

Jesus said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through me." (John 14:6)

Romans 6:23 tells us, "the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Paul explained the gospel in Ephesians 2:8-9. "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast."

Have you recognized your sinful state and confessed your sin to God? Have you acknowledged Jesus as the only way to God because of His sacrifice for your sins on the cross? You can do so right now if you would like to. Accepting Jesus as your Savior and Lord is a simple act of faith. It is your response from the heart that matters to God. If you have surrendered your sinful self to Him in an act of humble faith, then you are one of the "brethren." If you haven't done this before, but choose now to humble yourself before Almighty God and accept Jesus' atoning work on the cross for your sin, then you can use the following prayer to talk to God about this.
Dear Jesus, I confess to you that I am a sinner. I cannot be good enough to save myself. You died on the cross to save me, and I humbly accept your free gift of salvation. I thank you for this wonderful free gift of your grace and love toward me. In Jesus' name, I pray.
    Amen.

To all those who have accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord, God grants the privilege of being His children! Welcome to the family! Write your thoughts.
