    WALK OF GRACE
    My Spiritual Service of Worship

    WEEK ONE -- GRACE

    DAY TWO

SING: Children of the Heavenly Father (Hymnal #44)

"Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship." (Rom. 12:1)

    1. As believers in Jesus Christ, we are included in the "brethren." What does that mean to you? Write your thoughts.

    2. Read Romans 6:12-14. As children of God, what should no longer reign over us?

    3. How are we to present ourselves to God? (v.13)

    4. Describe the difference between living under law and living under grace.

The penalty of sin is eternal separation from God and death of the body. Though our physical bodies will die one day, we now have eternal life with God through repentance and acceptance of His free gift of salvation by His grace. Romans 6:16 explains that we are slaves to whomever we obey. We should obey Jesus, our Savior and Lord. He redeemed us from death. Choosing to live a life of obedience yields righteousness and pleases God.

    5. Read Romans 6:17. Where does obedience begin in the believer?

    6. Read Romans 6:18. What are we now free from? How did this occur?

Please understand, the gift of salvation is just that -- a GIFT! It is unearned, unmerited favor with God because of Jesus Christ. This gift of salvation is lavished upon all who believe in Jesus as the Son of God and Savior of men from their sin. Once a person humbly accepts Jesus in confession and faith, that person is redeemed and made a new creation. Our salvation in Christ is forever secure. Nothing else is needed or expected for salvation. After receiving the gift of salvation, a new believer is given the opportunity and the privilege to walk with God as a new creation. Romans 6:19 reminds us that in the flesh there is always weakness. However, Christ has overcome the flesh by His grace. The new life we live is by faith in God and through the power of the Holy Spirit.

    APPLICATION:
Consider these truths. Write a prayer praising God for His gift of grace freely given to you in Christ Jesus.

SING: Rejoice in the Lord Always (Hymnal #489)
