    3. From verses 16 and 17 write out each point of identification that Ruth emphasized to her beloved mother-in-law after telling her she would not turn back.

      D
      E

    4. What do you think gave Ruth the strength and determination to follow Naomi to an unknown land?
      (key verses 16, 17)

    5. Why do you think Bethlehem was stirred up because Naomi was back? (v.19)

(Who else, many years later, caused a stir in the city of Jerusalem with His return? Matt. 21:10)

    6. Naomi was a woman of barrenness. Describe her sorrow from Ruth 1:20-21.

      (Matt. 5:3-4)

    7. At what time of year did Naomi and Ruth return? (v.22)

Ruth was a Moabitess, a descendant of Lot, Abraham's nephew. Moab was located just east of the Dead Sea. God had given that land to Lot's sons according to Deuteronomy 2:8-9. God instructed the children of Israel not to disturb the Moabites' land. During the times of the kings, the Moabites caused trouble with Israel. To learn more about Moab you can read Deuteronomy 23:3-6 and Numbers 22-25.

    LESSONS AND APPLICATIONS

    1. Loyalty to family is an honorable thing. Who in your physical family needs your loyalty right now? How can you demonstrate loyalty to the family of God today?

    2. Determination to follow the way of godliness is blessed. How determined are you to follow after what is truly godly?
