    WOMEN OF FAITH
    BLESSEDNESS OF BELIEVING

    WEEK SIX

    Mary Magdalene
    Samaritan Woman

    INTRODUCTION

This week we will be studying two women who encountered Christ in their sinfulness and became influential after their redemption. As we examine their lives and the great healing that took place for them, let's remember the awesome power of God who knows us full well and is filled with compassion and mercy. He is ready to heal any infirmity whether physical, psychological, or spiritual, when we call out to Him in faith, surrender, and hope. Let's pray and begin.

    DAY ONE

    Mary of Magdala

    1. Read Matthew 15:39, Mark 8:10, and Luke 8:3. If you have a Bible Dictionary, look up Magdala (Magadan) or Dalmanutha, and pinpoint this location. List the women mentioned in Luke 8:1-3 and their ministry gifts to Jesus and the disciples.

    2. According to Luke 8:1-3, describe Mary Magdalene's past.

    3. Read Mark 5:1-13, and write what you learn about demons.

    4. Read Matthew 12:22-28. Describe the foolishness of the Pharisees' thinking. Explain how only in the power of Jesus is one able to cast out demons.

    5. By whose power were the demons driven out in Luke 10:17-20?

    6. Having studied briefly about demons and the terror and torment they cause, imagine what Mary Magdalene's life was like before she met Christ. (Luke 8:1-3)

    7. How was Mary's life different after Jesus delivered her from these demons? Look up Galatians 5:16, 22-26 and Philippians 4:4-9 to help explain what must have been in Mary's heart and mind as she served the Lord after her conversion.

Mary was a woman who had been set free. Her healing was profound and complete. As He traveled in Galilee, Jesus witnessed Mary and her demonic possession. He saw her extreme torment, was moved with compassion by her difficulty, and set her free. Mary later became part of the traveling ministry team of women who served Jesus and the disciples. As we will see later in our study, she was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, her Lord and her SAVIOR! (We will come back to Mary later in the week.)

    LESSONS AND APPLICATIONS

    1. Jesus is the only one who can cleanse a person. What do you need to be cleansed from today? Take it to the Lord in prayer.

    2. Jesus knows the torment of the souls of men. What is tormenting you right now? Have you prayed to the Father in Jesus' name to deliver you from it?
